Mike began playing bass in 1972 at age 12. At that time his father was playing Banjo with Larry Campbell and the Country Playboys, Mike's first time on stage was with this group and by age 15 he played with his father with The Bluegrass Expressions. Later on he played with Hickory Flatt, Midnite Flyer and in 1989 got the call to join The Bass Mountain Boys. Mike toured with those guys for 7 years till the band retired in 1996. During that time he met Chubby Wise and played several shows with him and even got to recorded a CD with Chubby. He has played with Charlie Waller and the Country Gentlemen, The Far City Boys and then with Retro 78. during that time Retro 78 won the SPBGMA band contest in Nashville, Tennessee in 2022. Mike Joined The JackTown Ramblers in July of 2023.
